Laptop might be dead as a door nail. It no longer recognizes the charger. What does this mean?
I might disappear from WordPress and fall horribly behind in my writing projects. Twitter can still be done through my phone as can email. Sadly, I can’t type a book on the thing and the WP app hasn’t gotten along with my phone in over a year.
Whelp. I’m adding this shit to the list of reasons why 2016 can go suck a syphilitic camel cock until it’s eyes pop out. Can you tell I’m angry?
I can tell.

Yep, you’re angry! With good reason! 💛 Elizabeth

Not an expert, but the battery might be fried? Do you keep it constantly connected to the charger? If not that, then it could be the motherboard if it’s not recognising the charger. If it is the motherboard, you may start saving for a new laptop, I’m sorry to say

I took the battery out and put it back in, which seems to have fixed it. There was a blip of recognition between the computer and the battery before this, so I’m sure the two things worked. Can a computer still run with a fried battery? Really hoping the motherboard doesn’t become a problem.

I’d let someone look at it tbh, I can’t really diagnose what’s wrong unless I have the thing in front of me. Sorry I can’t be of more help 😦

My dad works on computers, so I’ll let him fiddle with it once I finish the editing project tomorrow. The two parts are getting along right now and I haven’t been set aflame yet. We’ll see what the morning brings.

Yes a fried battery can still be used with the power cord. The computer may keep reminding you that you need to replace it, but it will work.

It was fine this morning, which is what confuses me. We’ll see what happens tomorrow morning.

Pulling the battery sort of resets everything. That was good.

Good to know. I wonder if it got jolted loose somehow.

That could be. The battery has to be in place even if it is dead.

Still working so far.

Try letting the laptop battery drain all the way and then plug it back in, that sometimes helps when my laptop is having Issues.

I’ll try that if the problem comes back. Taking the battery out and putting it back seemed to do the trick. Not really sure what happened unless the house shook while I was gone and the battery came loose.

Technical issues are the worst kind. I don’t know if you will get to see this comment for awhile, but I’m thinking of you!

Looks like I got it to work again. The battery needed to get taken out and put back in. Might have been loose or something. Thanks.

Wouldn’t be a week unless something went wrong.

Sounds maddening, Charles. Hope you can get it fixed soon. For the short term, most libraries have public terminals, so you don’t have to fall off the face of the blogosphere unless you want to.

Maddening is a good word for it. The only hard part with the library is that it’s summer. A lot of people go in there and grab a terminal fairly early. I can’t head out until the kid is on the bus and it also means I won’t have access for most of the day.

Forgot to mention. There’s also a weird thing where someone is in the area with the volume of their computer very high and them watching a TV show.
