Just a quick update as to the novella project entitled: ‘THE HOPETELLER’. This is a combination of post-apocalyptic journal and fairy tale. Well, I just finished it and now it’s up to editing and cover art. Both should be done by the end of the month, so I’m hoping for a June 1st debut. This isn’t going to be a promotional thing like my novels, but I’ll try to put together a cover reveal if I can. I will probably post it for opinions to see what needs to be fixed up. Anyway, here is the blurb that I wrote up for it:
Humanity has been driven into the wilderness by the ‘Invaders’. They have been forced to live as colonies in the wilderness where survival is a daily struggle. Hope becomes harder and harder to hold onto as the years pass.
Then one day, a young man tells a story to an injured friend and the Hopeteller is born. Unsure of the power of his words, he finds himself moving the colony with his fairy tales. He will see his people through death and fear as they continue to fight for survival.
Enjoy this novella that is half post-apocalyptic journal and half fairy tales.
That was quick! Sounds intriguing. 🙂

Thanks. It’s only 30-32 pages and I spent all of Sunday night outlining the basics. Still, I really expected it to take longer.

Sounds like you got it figured out! I’m looking forward to seeing how the mash up works

Sent it to a few beta readers for the weekend. It’s only 31 pages, so it won’t be long. Cover art will take the longest.

I’d suck as help there, the title reminded me of one of the cards from my divination deck called “The Journeyman”, and now until I see the cover you get, it’s what I’ll be imagining as it! 🙂

We’re designing a symbol for the character. Though the tarot card idea has been suggested.

Symbol itself can be tricky, cause you never know what it can provoke in a reader mind.
I love the tarot card idea though, I think that would look nice and good, concept and aesthetics wise 🙂

The only difficult thing is that there’s nothing about tarot cards in it. People see that and they expect them to show up.

Not if you make it so that concept shows the tarot card to be a metaphorical representation of the Hopeteller himself 🙂

Thanks. I’m looking forward to seeing the reaction to it. Keywords and categories are going to be a challenge though.

If you had beta readers, ask them to suggest some keywords. They may think of some you might not have

Good idea. I think totally different genres is what makes it tough.
