Update on Progress

OH GOD NO! NOT THIS AGAIN!

OH GOD NO! NOT THIS AGAIN!

I don’t think I’ve done this all week and Ionia lampooning me doesn’t count.  It counts for comedy and amusement, but not for an update.  I’ll make this quick:

  1. Broke 1,500 with Prodigy of Rainbow Tower and Beginning of a Hero.
  2. Still no word from Amazon on the Sword & Sorcery list.  For those unaware, I was on this Bestselling list until last Sunday when I was cut without warning.  It seems indie authors aren’t supposed to be there or something.  I sent an email to Amazon explaining how indie authors use their lists to sell books and how I want to build a career with them.  So, they’re looking into it, but it could be BS.
  3. I’m still on the lists and both books are doing fine.
  4. I sent another e-mail to ereadernewstoday to see if Beginning of a Hero can be listed.
  5. Put a plan into action to get some money for more advertising since the new laptop hit my funds pretty badly.
  6. No word on cover art for Allure of the Gypsies.  Halloween debut might not happen.

I definitely recommend posting your Amazon site and a sales blurb on the Facebook sites that I listed on my Advertising Links page.  That has helped, but you have to give a flashy blurb.  One in the morning and one at night.

That’s progress and I’m going to set up another post about a special theme for next week that I need some ideas for.

      Me too. I’m holding on the other lists, but the Action & Adventure list doesn’t seem to be doing me any favors. I should switch it probably. I’m just sitting there around Dan Brown and the like.

      They made the new categories a long time ago, but never made them available for Kindle publishers. I’ve heard that there are ways to sneak on using tags, but I tried and nothing. Technically, I would have been #5 on that list going by the overall rankings. They said they received a lot of complaints this week, so maybe they’ll change it.

      I should look into switching out of Action/Adventure and into another fantasy genre. Just not sure what.

    Is it that you’re indie? In another post, it seemed that the problem may have been having ebook sales count toward the paperback bestseller list. Or is that a separate issue? Amazon seems to be pretty supportive of indies. They certainly have some very successful indies, with big names among them. Curious about how this turns out. Good luck.

      The book thing is a separate issue. The Sword & Sorcery category isn’t available as a choice when publishing through Kindle. So I technically shouldn’t be in it. Some indie authors have found ways into those lists, but they had to ask or trick with a lot of luck. I was simply put on there instead of my actual second category if action/adventure. Fingers crossed that they open the doors for us.

      Adding some new info: My first book is allowed on the books list even though I’ve only sold eBooks. This means I have no idea what Amazon is doing and I’m not sure they know either. Maybe all an indie author can do is grab a hold of the Amazon Beast’s tail and hold on for dear life.
