A little conversation from last week to explain this (some paraphrasing):
Charles- I have my gastroenterologist appointment next Thursday at 9:45 AM . . . Ionia has her cyberknife follow-up next Thursday. It’d be so funny if . . . nah . . . I wonder.
Text to Ionia- You have your follow up on the 22nd, right?
Ionia- Yes.
Charles- At 9:45 AM?
Ionia after a pause- How the bloody hell did you know that?
Charles- My gastroenterologist appointment is the 22nd at 9:45 AM. That’s strange.
Ionia- That’s really strange.
Charles- Should we make some WordPress fun out of this?
Ionia- Of course we should.
There you have it everyone! The secret of 9:45 is that Ionia and I had identical appointments completely by accident. We thought it was funny and decided to use it for some fun. Now for the updates:
Ionia’s follow up has been delayed a week, but this comedy still stands. Everyone continue holding the positive energy thoughts for her because it 1) makes her know we care and 2) makes her uncomfortable. Love you, bestie! *ducks barrage of squirrels*
Myself . . . myself. It’s spastic colon with extra spasms. I managed to give a good enough description to not have invasive tests and I’ll be on medication. Nothing major. I feel an attack come on, I pop a pill and relax to let it go away. I have a follow up in 2 months where we decide on if things improved or if new tests are needed. Key thing here is relaxing, which I will try very hard to do. Oddities of the visit:
- I have amazingly perfect blood pressure for a guy that comes in as obese on the BMI. They were impressed.
- The doctor pinned me as an author within minutes and I never mentioned it. It might be due to the flowery language and description I was using. I mean, I went into full details to the point where he was impressed. Seriously, I talked my way out of a colonoscopy, which should earn me a bloody medal.
There you have it. The mystery is solved and you know how people are doing. Stay tuned for a post later tonight with book titles and a question for a special posting theme of next week. Also, go give Ionia hugs on her blog.
Lmao…now we know the super powers of authors!!!! Thanks guy, I needed a good laugh and this fit the bill! 😉

Way to go, Charles. It takes talent to talk your way out of an unnecessary procedure, *and* get the remedy necessary to ease symptoms.
I had a sneaking suspicion that this may have been the reason for the 9:45(dual appointments – and how spooky is that?!). I loved the banter, though.

I figured some people guessed it. We just had to have fun with it. Ionia and I wouldn’t be us if we didn’t.
I’m still waiting on the remedy though. The joy of prescription delays.

Exactly! 🙂
Good luck with the pharmaceuticals!

Thankfully, it’s a ‘take when needed’, so it should be fine.

Don’t forget about the “less stress” part

Easier said than done around here. It’s doable if I have the freedom to escape for an hour to soak and zone out. If things persist then I have to do a few scans in October.

Bless you, Charles for such fun at your own expense, written sweetly!

uncanny about the appointments and funny how we are all linked in such strange ways, perhaps a glimpse in to the great plan. Best wishes, sir. Keep smiling and keep writing 🙂

I wonder that too. It’s interesting how people meet as strangers and then friendship appears.

I’m glad you will be fine and that you can avoid the colonoscopy at least for a while. Hopefully in 2 months you will be much better and less stressed. This certainly is good news. 🙂

Yup. Though, I’ll be going in around the time I’m hoping to release the third book. It’s a vicious cycle.

Well hopefully the medication will help enough that the third book won’t cause you so much discomfort. 🙂

Hope so. Looks like my books are cooling off a bit, so I’m going to avoid looking at stats too often. For my own sanity.

This can get better. No nuts, seeds or hot peppers/spices for a while either…Doctors hardly ever tell you the good dietary ways you can mange illness. they want you to keep coming back.
LikeLike
It’s not dietary though. I changed my diet when it started and it kept coming back. They determined it’s stress and diet won’t make a difference. I have to agree too. One attack happened after I ate hot wings, but another attack happened after I ate a simple salad with no dressing.

You definitely deserve a bloody medal for that smooth talking! Glad to hear that you have a way to control it instead of having to suffer through it!
