Not long ago I made a post asking for help. It was maybe an hour ago. HERE!
Some people showed interest in putting up a guest blog on the weekend that I’ll be away from the computer. At best, I’ll be minimized. Anyway, there’s a challenge with that.
I blogged every day for 2 years straight and that covered a lot of topics. Without direction, I have no idea what to write about. So I’m looking at really old posts. Would anybody want to host one a re-purposed ‘Legends of Windemere’ classic with a book promo put on the top?
This does mean you’ll be trusting me to pick something fun and interesting. It’ll come in HTML format too, so pictures will be in the post. Let me know if this interests you and I’ll send you one next week when I have an Ichabod Brooks link. Now back to planning this trip and figuring out where in this overheated house the kid is.
Absolutely. I’m sure you’ll send me something fun 🙂

Sold to the gentleman with the funny hat! 😀 (you do have a funny hat somewhere, right?)

Think there’s a giant rainbow-colored, novelty sombrero around here somewhere.

I knew it. No household is complete without one.

Especially a Jewish household. There’s always at least one Bar/Bat Mitzvah where the giant, rainbow-colored novelty sombrero is a gift.

Yep – Do It – Good Luck finding the kid btw 😀

I have a conversation starter about talking animals that might be fun. As for the kid, he was playing in the hottest room of the house. Goodie.

You can send me one with the date you want me to live with it. I’ll try my damnedest not to lose it. I just cut my email in half, or more. Too much junk I wasn’t reading. That might help.

Cool. I’ll take a look and put you on the list. Thanks.

I’ll be willing to help, as well. I think you have my info. If not, just let me know &I’ll post it to you.
May your trip be all you hope it’ll be, instead of what you might dread.

I don’t usually post on the weekends, but I can help out. Do you have an old post that works with the Ichabod book release announcement?

Not much. Trying to find a few things, but not much luck.

What about a post on mazes, traps, and dungeons?

Thanks. Do you still want the post if you’re doing a read and review?

Yes, I’m happy to do one on the Friday and one on the Saturday; or one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. Either is good 😀

Now to find a good post. Looking at one on cliches and another about writing a ‘monster character’. A fun ‘why do you write?’ one too. A lot of these things result in conversations, but I won’t be able to do much until Sunday night.

All of those sound good! If I did the review on Saturday, and the post on Sunday, you’ll be able to reply to comments when you’re free and I’ll do so in the meantime 😀

Got it. Though we’ll see how I am upon my return. Long drive might push it to Monday. Any topic preference out of those?

Writing a monster would be cool. But I also like the sound of the cliches 😀

Fab 🙂 I’ll look forward to it.

Then again, do you think using a cliche post to promote a new book is a problem?

I don’t see it as a problem if you’re considering how clichés are used in writing and if you purposely link it to your work. Any part of the writing process is interesting when we’re learning about an author.

It’s more how one person’s cliche is another person’s first exposure.

Hm. Then I’m not sure. What’s your instincts about the post in terms of spotlighting a new release?

Tough call. I was hoping to connect to Ichabod Brooks, but not much for that.

Maybe it needs to be a – the author of Ichabod Brooks gives us an insight into creating monsters! 🙂

We’ll see what happens. I’m noticing that a short story is hard to connect a ton of guest posts too. So the intro paragraph might promote that and Legends of Windemere.

Hey Charles, I’m actually putting together a series of interviews with writers, looking specifically at research processes, so that might work nicely for your hiatus to promote the short story (we could do one or two quick question about anything you had to research in order to write it). Give me a shout if you think that might work for you — I’m on cfjeanjean@gmail.com
